Saturday 18 February saw the second leg of our Daiwa shore league. Here's the recorders report.
Daiwa shore league matchday two.
Venue: Waterfoot 1700-2200.
Tide/sea state: Fishing a full flood on fairly calm water which was blown flat by a blustery westerly.
Species caught: there were 321 counting fish caught which included flounder, plaice, coalie, codling, rockling, whiting, smelt and bass.
Despite the gales on Friday the venue was completely free of weed and after a slow start, once dusk hit there were a lot of small fish in the bay to keep everyone busy.
The commitee sponsored a "sweepstake" type prize for overall longest fish in the form of a Shimano Ultegra 14000 which Drew Ferguson won with a 43cm coalfish.
