Spin reels come in all forms, from rear drag models that have the drag adjustment at the back end of the reel to front drag models that have the drag on the actual spool. A pretty recent design has been to have a fighting drag at the rear of the reel, which allows the angler to instantly and positively lower or increase the drag tension when fighting a sporting fish such as a salmon or large trout. Some of the lower scale models come with line already fitted, though how adaptable this line is for your situation is unknown and might need replaced. Others come with spare spools and line spacer sets, which allows the angler to get away with fitting limited amount of line so that the spool is quickly filled.There are a hundred different permutations to choosing the right reel for you.
