Saturday 23 March saw leg 3 of our shore league sponsored by Daiwa. The planned venue was Cushendun but as there was already a club match taking place on it, the decision was taken to fish the town end of Waterfoot beach. It was a tough night weather wise and also with a lot of weed and debris in the tide from the river. A decision was also made to only fish four hours due to this and the fact that the top pegs were close to being pushed off the beach by the incoming tide.
Here's our recorders report.
Saturday 23 March
Venue: Waterfoot (Town end) 1800-2200hrs
Tide: Fishing full flood
Weather/sea-state: minimal surf but horrendous north westerlies were pushing the tide left to right along with weed and debris from the river. Intermittent hail and rain bursts made fishing "difficult".
Species caught: flounder, plaice, rockling and coalie.
Notes: a typical March nights angling. Very scratchy though the low pegs held better numbers of fish in the gulley.
