Saturday 28 Sept saw leg six of our shore league sponsored by Daiwa. A hard easterly most of the week saw many of East Antrims beaches lying covered thick with stalks of heavy kelp and Waterfoot was no different. Thankfully the wind dropped right out last night allowing us to fish with no issues as the weed remained at the high tide mark. If anything, it was nearly too calm for the venue but there were still plenty of fish caught. Here's our recorders report.
Venue: Waterfoot 1800-2300hrs.
Tide/sea-state: Fishing three and a half hrs up and one and a half down on a calm sea.
Weather: Slight westerly, mild and occasional showers.
Species caught: flounder, dab, dogfish, rockling and pollack.
Very calm conditions made this a very "scratchy" evening for most, however Gareth could do no wrong with a full card of thirty fish made up of flounder, dogs, dab and rockling. A good sign for our two day match in a month's time.
