Just like to say that our 2 day open in the Foyle area was a major success which worked out far better than expected! The feedback from visiting and local anglers alike was one of positivity and promises to be back next year along with more of their friends. The weather held nicely and the fishing was ok with just a few bumps in a other wise very smooth and controlled competition. It was nice to have nobody gurning or complaining over silly things like the way it was in the 'olden' days. Everybody pulled together and helped each other as a federation of friends and anglers should. The Alexander Arms Hotel in Limavady was class, with the food to match and the staff all were really friendly. The craic was mighty at night time and the venues were all within 10 miles of the headquarters. One of our own won the competition overall and as things are working out it is very hard to beat John Sheils of the damn Foyle! Another feature of the competition was that the next 3 places were taken up by visiting anglers (though Tim is in the Federation) The payout was evenly distributed throughout the zones and it was a 100% payout of the £50.00 entry fees. A small £2.00 federation due was levied on all anglers and nobody quibbled about paying this, at least I don't think they did lol.
All in all a super competition and can't wait to next year!
