Time for another fishing round up πŸ˜€
Mark BG took a run up the coast with me last wednesday for a 4 hour shore session to targets flatties. The fish were about in good numbers with flounder, dab and plaice coming in 2 and 3 at a time 😊
Nothing massive, but the rods were nodding away all afternoon until they gobbled up all of our ragworm. Great wee impromptue session 😁😁
Sunday saw myself, soupy Sean Skull Feeney and big tommy head out onboard the lady karen from portrush (skippered by Paul Graham ) for what turned out to be the best boat trip so far this year from the port.
Mackerel were still thin on the ground with only 1 getting caught the entire day but 1lb whiting were abundant. This ended up doing us a good turn as very quickly something kept stealing them off our hooks. So the light traces were put away and heavy rigs baited up with whiting fillets or whole whiting were sent back out to see what was about πŸ˜‰
I was first to hook up with a double shot of 7lb spurdog coming up and then the fun began in ernest with others hooking up πŸ˜€
Tommy got the biggest fish of the day measuring in at 117cm. It was a brute of a spur that was as thick as my thigh and he was pulling some faces trying to hold it for a photo πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
After a few hours of frantic spur action we decided we'd had enough and set off to target some pollock and other species. I think we ended up with tub gurnard, scad, ballan wrasse, pollock and coalies.
All in all a great days fishing πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜„
