Intercontinental Surfcasting Maver Cup Poland
This was a first time competition for us. Part of the International Friendship Cup that NIFSA are now members of and have been involved in various competitions across Europe.
Only one of our members was available to fish this one and that man was Harry Mckee Snr, federation secretary.
First day's competition was disrupted by an east wind that churned the sedentary weed lying on the bottom up into the whole water column and made fishing very difficult. As a result there were a lot of blanks on the beach including our man who committed the cardinal sin of not packing 4 stone of leads with him and not having any gripleads to hold at distance for a few moments before being pulled round.
Second evening things had calmed down to a near flat and we got 5th in the zone with 5 flounders.
All in all it was a really well run competition and the polish could not do enough for us , this included picking up from Gdansk airport and returning into Gdansk at the end of the competition. The prize table was amazing and every competitor recieved a memorable plate with club or country inscription on. It was presented in a really good professional manner with everything going to plan. We will definitely be back next year with a team of anglers.
A big thanks to all the anglers from Wędkarstwo Morskie - Władek Team who did incredibly well to organise and put on such an event. Thank you!
