NIFSA members had a couple of sessions over in Donegal in the last couple of days. Michael Gaw fished Rathmullan pier with a ray a chuck while Al Marsden Glenn Murphy and Alan Reynolds fished into and around Killybegs. Here is Als account of the session in Killybegs
Donegal catch report.
With our boat trip in wicklow getting cancelled a plan for a shore session in west donegal was quickly hatched. Myself and 2 other NIFSA members Alan Reynolds and Glenn Murphy decided on a rock mark that we had looked at before when out on a boat trip from killybegs that we reckoned we could get to handy enough.
As it turned out it was a bit of a red letter day with fish nailing baits within seconds of only being cast out. Any ideas we had of fishing 2 rod each quickly went out the window as it was hard enough keeping up with one 😮
We were fishing over clean sand out far and kelp and rocks in close. so all the usual suspects we showing up.
Species included,
Thornback ray
Pollock
Coalfish
Dab
Plaice
Ballan wrasse
Spotted ray
Dogfish
I honestly lost count of how many fish we ended up with as it was frantic for most of the day and by 4pm we headed home with sore arms, burnt faces and great memories of our best shore session of 2020 so far 😃😃😄
